Are Humans Really a Part of Nature?

Myth: We are more important than nature.

Correction: We are more important than nature.

Mom. Psychotherapist. Wellness Coach. Spiritual Being.

I am a fusion of science and spirituality.

Our ancestors may not have had the science but they still knew what they were talking about.

Intuitively.
They were divinely guided.

I believe that our body is the vehicle in which we travel through this life and the goal is to enjoy all the wonders of the human experience while remembering that we are a unique expression of the Divine.

We can’t experience God/Source if our channels aren’t clear. When the Bible says, “Our body is a temple…”, I think the point of it was to encourage people to keep it maintained and in optimal condition. Life should be a meditation within itself. Through that constant meditation, we open the channel for God/Source to flow in and through.

We experience Heaven on Earth.

But when that channel is blocked, through poor lifestyle habits, chronic disease, mental illness, etc., we start to feel more like hell on earth.

My journey into holistic health started in my late teens, early twenties, when I was finally on my own and in college. Being on my own quickly made me realize a few things about health, wellness & adulthood. Most Americans (within the middle/low-middle class):

  • don’t have insurance

  • have terrible insurance

  • don’t use their insurance because they can’t afford the copays

But people are still sick. People are still experiencing mental health crises. People are still in need of support and assistance.

Fun Fact: 75-90% of doctor visits in North America are for ailments or conditions tied to stress (APA, 2020; AIS, 2022).

Modern society has forgotten about the natural cycles of life. We expect people to spend most of their day indoors, on fixed incomes, fixed schedules & barely anytime to eat, forcing them to trade most of their energy on merely surviving and wonder why most of the Americans in the USA are suffering from chronic physical & mental illness.

For most of my life, I was a part of that 75-90%. And as much as doctors were there to help, none of them were getting to the root of the issue because even after multiple appointments, procedures and medications, the problems remained. Ultimately, the issues were caused by my daily habits, environments and the fact that most of my life was riddled with toxic stress. And I’ve been on a journey to clear that toxic stress from my life for good.

Like I said before, our ancestors knew what they were doing when it came to being healthy & happy. Historically speaking, they were the keepers of the land and the guardians of the medicine — Plants and nature were the cure all, especially when it comes to preventative medicine. They were a part of nature and understood the importance of flowing with the rhythms of the seasons.

Earth’s timing is always on time.

As a mother, therapist and human, my biggest hope for families is to have enough time & energy to actually enjoy life together — as a family. Time after time, I’ve seen and experienced the amount of stress that comes with being a working mother trying to deal with everything that comes with being an adult as well as trying everything in your power to raise a healthy & happy human. It’s almost like there’s not enough time in the world to cram in everything that needs to get done and maintain optimal health & wellness for yourself. And then add on doctor’s appointments due to your declining health, copays, and juggling schedules?! It’s exhausting.

So how do we bridge that gap?

By returning health back to the people.
Reconnecting with nature.
Remembering that we are nature.

I’ve tried many stress management approaches and many failed. But the one thing that’s saved me time and time again is reconnecting with Source through nature, plants & connecting to Self. Whether that be through:

  • gardening

  • making homemade meals

  • meditating while walking my child from the car to the front of the school

  • switching out my pre-workout & coffee for naturally energizing herbs

  • walking in the woods

  • doing some yoga asanas & breathing between client sessions

Reconnecting will look different for everyone but the one thing they’ll all have in common is the clarity that comes after connecting. This world will try to tell you how to live and what you’re supposed to be doing in order to feel “valid”. I’m sure you can find a million reasons to be stressed because (if I’m being real) this shit is hard.

But I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t need to be that way. Its a Soft Girl Season from here on out and we welcome ease, grace, and flow into our lives. This is not just about including healing when you remember to do it, no. This is about making healing a lifestyle. When you reconnect to Divinity by clearing those channels, there is no more questioning, only trust. Your next steps are paved for you and you take them with faith, knowing that you’re Divinely guided.
